I thought American Mary was a turning point...

...And would see her making it big in bigger movies, but after watching 13 Eerie (2013), in which I didn't even recognise her until the credits rolled, I now realise her career isn't really going anywhere fast.

13 Eerie looked like it was made on a budget of about $1,000.

And worse than that she is doing a movie with Danielle Harris, the Queen of low budget movie horror pap.

As much as I love Katharine, Danielle is a way better actress than she is, and a way more iconic scream queen.

more iconic, maybe but a better actress? Not even close. I love Danielle and think she's very good but Katharine is a better actress.

at Horrorhound when I met Katharine, I brought up 13 Eerie and she said basically she did it because it was a chance to make a movie with all of her best friends.

I'm almost always wowed by Danielle. She was fantastic in RZH2, at least IMO (I know liking that isn't popular but)

Also, she never had a performance as bad as Angela's Carrie 2002 one. Lol.

are we talking about Kathrine Isabelle or Angela Bettis? and yeah, Danielle's performances in Dark Waters of Echo's Pond, Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet and the Hatchet sequels have been pretty bad.

Mary Hatchet was bad, but I thought Danielle Harris was one of the best aspects. I also really liked her in the Hatchet sequels (as do a lot of people). Yet to see Dark Waters.

I'm talking Katharine. She's funny, but her reactions to the period scene and her Amazon war-cry at the prom scene were still super OTT. If you wanna drag in Angela Bettis, she kicks both their asses in the acting department. Just watch May.

I've seen May and I agree Angela Bettis trumps all. You just said "Also, she never had a performance as bad as Angela's Carrie 2002 one. Lol. " that's why I wondered. I have a feeling Katharine's OTT was the direction they went with to offset Emilie's subdued Chris. A poor director can ruin even the best performer and this applies to Danielle in the movies I listed earlier.

As far as Danielle in Mary Hatchet and Hatchet, I get that yourself and others really like her in those movies, I don't. If you're a fan of the actress, people will defend performances to the death. I just felt those movies gave her nothing to do. Hatchet especially, they basically give her 2 directions "be angry and scream". She's best when a director helps her along. Katharine's performances in American Mary, Insomnia and Ginger Snaps will always keep her as my personal favorite.

Like I said, I really like them both and part of the reason is no matter how bad they think the project could be, they always give 100%. They don't phone it in like Rooney Mara in NOES or Alicia Witt and Jared Leto in Urban Legend. They've been in the business since they were kids, grew up and are totally sweet and down to earth, they love their fans and they are two of the strongest genre actresses in their age group.

Oh my God! LOL! I meant Katharine's, though yeah. Angela is worse than both I suppose. And fair point on Katharine trying to balance out Emilie's Chris.

I've actually only seen Katharine in American Mary out of those (REALLY need to see Ginger Snaps), and it probably is better than most of Danielle's, but I've seen more consistently good ones from Danielle, whereas Katherine had Carrie 2002 (Bad but funny), FvJ (Decent), and American Mary (Great)

I don't recall Jared phoning it in for UL; and Alicia did? I assumed she just couldn't act. Rooney Mara annoys me to no end; not only did she phone it in, she goes on about how she was justified. And yeah, both seem very sweet
