Roles show a great versatility

I am so pleased to see postings on these boards for this excellent actor.

I have seen him in 6 roles and each has been very different and I never fail to be amused and impressed by him and he deserves much bigger and better things to happen to his career.

The roles I have seen him in are (in particular favourite order):

1.Bedrooms and Hallways - VERY funny gay character role. Not one-dimensional and very likeable.

2.Clandestine Marriage - Again another comic role playing the foppish dandy in love

3.Maybe Baby - Wonderful as the young Scottish Indie film director with attitude

4.Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence - an excellent performance that is full of humour but once again, not just one-dimensional

5.Lawless Heart - the one 'serious' role I have seen him again.A beautifully played portrayal of a gay man who's partner has died and all the 'family' and friends implications that go along with such a situation.Very moving and very real

6.Absolutely Fabulous - a perfect way to describe his guest role as the spoilt smarmy fiancee to Saffron.Very funny indeed - especially when trying to stop the arguing between Edina,Patsy and Saffron

I think he's a fantastic actor. Can anyone recommend any other film roles of his that are worthy of note?

Hi, I am very happy to meet another Tom fan. Tom is an excellent character actor. :D

You must definitely see Cambridge Spies which was a BBC mini-series. He played Guy Burgess, a gay communist during WW2.
Also don't miss Gosford Park. He plays Anthony Meredith, a down-on-his-luck husband who finds love at the end of the film. This character is so different to Guy Burgess, it's unbelieveable.

You must see The Lost Prince, he plays George V - serious role. He is excellent. It will definitely show his versatility. It's been on T.V. but you can get it on D.V.D.
Also, Hotel in Amsterdam is one to watch - dark comedy. His charactor is funny and straight but has an air of camp about him, again an excellent performance from him. It was a play in London and was filmed for T.V. It has been on BBC4 but I don't know if it is on D.V.D.

He is one of the UK's most versatile actors. If he was taller he'd have been one of our top leading men.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 and Wives & Daughters are a few more to add to your list! :)

Everything he has ever been in, regardless of the rest of the movie (in other words fast forward the scenes he's not in, with the terrible movies). ;)

Only seen POTC 2 and 3 and Pride and Prejudice, but as Mr Collins...wow. He makes my skin crawl, and he is ridiculous, like Elizabeth says. He's so good, espcially the part where he dances with Elizabeth, yet you feel so bad for him when he proposes to her.
