Valkyrie?

Anyone have any idea who he'll be playing in the upcoming film Valkyrie? I find it kind of odd that pretty much everyone else in the cast has been attached to a part, why not Tom?

I've been looking forward to that movie for a long time, and I'm pissed off it keeps getting pushed back. When I found out Tom was going to be in it, along with plethora of great British and German actors (including fellow Pirates vets Bill Nighy, Kevin McNally and David Schofield), it only made me that much more excited.

Stephen Fry is another actor whose part has not been revealed yet. I agree that it's strange that so little has been publicized about the film, when it's released in less than three months' time (they moved the date forward again to the end of December).

I'm pretty sure that Tom is in this film though, because Bill Nighy mentioned in several interviews how nice it was to work with him again (this is the fifth time I think they've been working together). I'm also really looking forward to this, there are too many amazing actors attached to it for it not to be good.

Maybe he and Stephen are going to be super-special guest stars with ultra-secret cameos. Except, not so secret if word has leaked out that they're in it.

I agree, the cast is excellent - many of my favorite Brits, and some fine German actors too. I'm hoping that there isn't something seriously wrong with the film to explain why it's been pushed back so many times.

Hi there chaps,

I think he's going to be playing Colonel Heinz Brandt, a senior officer on Hitler's staff - and the man who probably saved Hitler's life.

Go to NAVIGATION, HISTORICAL and look for ASSASINATION ATTEMPTS. There's a brief video showing Tresckow (Kenneth Branagh) handing a box of Cointreau champagne to 'Colonel Brandt' - there's a close up shot of Tom Hollander there as Colonel Brandt.

Enjoy!

Thank you very much! Apparently his role's rather small but given his billing that's expected. At the very least he's the one who moves the briefcase behind the table leg, so it's an important part.

SPOILER ALERT

Yup, he essentially saves Hitler's life ;-)

Always a pleasure Hancock!

I watched this movie tonight, and it's a wonderful movie.

Tom has a fairly small role; he's in three or four scenes that I remember, but he has some nice moments - I like his conversation with Kenneth Branagh's character when the latter tries to recover the undetonated plane bomb. Of course, a lot of the supporting cast was underused (Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson were the two best performances), so he's hardly alone in that regard.
