I agree!! When I sat down and really thought about who I thought would suit the part, he was the first and only actor that really seemed to fit.

Someone made a comment on The Hobbit 'Who should play Bilbo?' board that they couldn't see it because he plays a 'nasty' character in the Pirates films.. But he's an ACTOR for *** sake, we've seen him do a wide variety of characters in the past..

He's the one!!

YES!! He'd be fantastic - and I reckon Richard Armitage would make a great Bard the Bowman (guy who slays the dragon).

Totally 100% agree. Said Tom from the get-go. He can be a cubby, lazy average looking hobbit to begin with then over the course of the movies really slim up and look like an adventurer.

Also, may I add.......James Mcavoy & Michael Sheen (for example) seem pretty busy during the filimg period of The Hobbit. Tom has a large window.
