sharei was just wondering the same thing. i haven't seen Jay in anything in awhile
shareHe's such a good actor too
shareI like him too but I think his movie career as a leading man is dead! We're talking about a kid that was discovered in an elevator! The rest is easy to figure out what happens to these type of actors when they get older and they don't have what it takes to remain on top! It's a dirty business! He seems like a nice guy! Good luck to him!! Thanks.
What's easy to figure out is that the reason Jay's career as a leading man is non-existent is because he is not a white male. Most high-profile roles are written for white actors, even if the movie is suppose to represent a different culture.
I had mentioned in a previous post that lots of white male actors who are no where near as handsome or charismatic as Jay Hernandez are given many chances to draw in a large box office. Even if they've failed in doing that every single time (Gyllenhaal, Reynolds, Tatum) the studio will still consider them "leading" material.
I think he does have leading man potential. The reason why he is not on top is because he is not White. I bet if he was White his career would be soaring.
shareI agree with that because lool at TAylor klitch he is white and the biggest disapointment in hollywood is john carter and that battleship movie with Rhianna.. and he is in Savages directed by Oloiver Stone..
shareYeah this guy was like the Latino Josh Hartnett. Like in the late 90s and early 2000's he was just starting to get roles all over the place. And then like by the mid-2000's, his roles became B-movies and straight to DVD, totally not memorable. I think his first role now that he will be in that people will recognize is the one he got in Suicide Squad as El Diablo. Besides that, he's had nothing in the past 10 years. Sucks to see that happen to him. I'm not Hispanic, but darnit minorities need more recognition, not just to be given roles to exploit negative stereotypes. Just sayin....
