shareI would think that a divorce might take a bit of time to be completed. So she could have left him after 5 months, and then maybe not filed for divorce for a while, and not had it completed for a while. So they would still be married, even if they were separated.

I read somewhere that she married her first husband when her first son was already almost 2 and then left him a couple of weeks later for Matthew which is quite sad for that first husband.
