I have no issue with him playing a small role in a film with a huge cast.

I think he is in the one photo that is around don't think it is in the poster because the soldier is carrying an infantry helmet not a pilot's helmet.

I would not worry Mr. Hardy has so many projects lined up it'll be a "when it rains it pours" scenario. He deserves to take a break and he may be pickier about the projects he takes.

To have Hardy on the TV for several weeks as the lead character, in the cold Canadian winter i my case is pretty sweet.

ETA Following on the Dunkirk trailer thread I also think Nolan is notorious for being very secretive so I would not be surprised that Hardy's role is bigger in Dunkirk than we may think.

I suggest that you read up on Operation Dynamo and the role played by the RAF in the evacuation.

You may be surprised.

I think Nolan just want to keep him selective and surprise us in the movie
There are two shots for Tom , less than every actor we know in this movie.
Even the first shot is can't see his face.
So I believe he just the key. and don't want to show him yet.

I was disappointed with it too. I think he may have just a small supporting role. I would say that what's next for him might be Peaky Blinders S4 which starts filming in March. Steven Knight gave an interview after season 3 ended and hinted that Tom would be back for more. What his next movie is IDK i'm sure he has a lot to pick from.

The guy in the Dunkirk poster looks like Fionn Whitehead but I do think the guy walking into the sea looks/walks like Hardy.

I did read that Steven Knight was filming something in Bermuda very soon and Hardy was attached to that, possibly playing a fisherman. Sounds like a film that'll go under the radar but that was very similar to Locke and that's no issue for me as Tom's performance in that was mesmerising considering the type of film it was.

I am hearing that Tom appears in the prologue for Dunkirk which is great to hear!

I don't think it's Tom walking into the sea but I'm pleased we only get to see a little tease of Tom in the trailer. He looks mighty good as a pilot and the 'hero' tones suit him very well. Just remember good things come to those who wait. I think his role willl be highly memorable no matter what the size of it is. He has a habit of doing that you know. He walks into a scene and then walks off with it tucked deep into his pocket.

I think the same way. I feel he is the surprise in this movie.
I look back to the inception trailer. Eames also only one shoot (can see face) in it.
But when the movie came out, eames is lots bigger than that.
