I've studied this stuff with skeptical intrigue for decades, and have been reading Hancock's works from his first publications, along with other authors (most of them much more fringe and nutty, quite frankly). But Hancock has always seemed much more grounded and measured in his approach and theories. He's gone off on tangents a few times over the years, but there's a core element to this theory that solidifies more and more with each new archeological find that pops up. This series cobbles together what he's presented throughout his books over the years, along with what others have contributed, into a cohesive presentation for layman and enthusiasts alike.

Just finished episode 5 dealing with Gobekli Tepe, and it includes a very recently "deciphered" bit on one of the pillars that strongly suggests the animals are constellations that almost certainly act as a timestamp for a specific event: on this particular pillar that of the Younger-Dryas event. It's very difficult to refute it. Given that this and its companion site were deliberately buried to preserve it until it could be found thousands of years later, it's hard to doubt the entire endeavor wasn't a time capsule with a message in it from a past civilization that predates, and that was almost entirely wiped out by, the Younger-Dryas global catastrophe.

I can't recommend this series enough, for skeptics, for those usually not interested in this subject, and for those who are. There's some interesting ideas here that have some merit, even if buried amidst some questionable leaps of logic. Approach with skeptical curiosity.

Gobekli Tepe is a very interesting place.

The do not count it as the first human settlement, but it seems like it clearly was for a number of reasons. So strange this ancient human obsession with arranging giant stones.

I read something today where they think they found the long lost Cleopatra's tomb that was hidden being a secret wall. Can you imagine a completely undisturbed tomb of someone who was actually a known historical person. Can't wait to see that.

That would be fantastic! Hopefully these various finds of late are the start of a new era of archeological discoveries.

The trick is to keep an open mind without getting lost down fantasy rabbit holes.
