This Generations Phil Hartman

I keep hearing that, all over the place. Some people liken him to Dan Aykroyd, but for the most part, if anyone is comparing Hader to any former SNL players, it's Hartman.

Now, my question is, why do you think that is? Is it a warranted comparison? Looking at Hartman's contributions to SNL in relation to Hader's, do you think that people saying Hader is our Phil Hartman is justly founded?

Bill's style is very much an amalgam of Hartman and Aykroyd's styles. He has Phil's innate gift for creating impeccable impressions and excelling at straight roles like dads, game show hosts, commercial pitchmen, etc., but he can also tap into the quirkier side of Aykroyd. Phil's definitely my all time favorite cast member and Aykrody's right up there as well, and Bill is a worthy successor to both.

If only there was an alternate future where Hartman's Sinatra could appear on one of Bill's Vincent Price specials.

Totally agree, especially with the Phil Hartman comparison. Back then, everyone thought that Mike and Dana were the stars but it was Phil who held everything together (hence why he was nicknamed "The Glue"). And that's kind of similar to Bill's time on SNL. People saw Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig as the stars (don't get me wrong I really like them as well) but Bill was the backbone of the show.

Just want to add another consenting voice. I totally agree with this as well. And I don't say this lightly. It takes incredible talent to deserve the title "this generation's Phil Hartman" and yes, Bill Hader's contributions to SNL have made him well-deserving of the comparison.
