All these people defending and praising Gunn were the same ones that were stringing Rosanne up on a crucifix
I can't stand this liberal hypocrisy where only people that are part of your little anti-Trump cult are the ones that get defended.
shareI can't stand this liberal hypocrisy where only people that are part of your little anti-Trump cult are the ones that get defended.
shareits not the same, tweets were many years old, he showed growth. Rosanne is and always was a racist. But Disney knew that when they hired her, so they are hypocrites .
shareThis Trump hater is a real piece of work:
In September of 2010, James Gunn published a video on his personal blog (which he took down in an apparent panic Thursday night) titled “100 Pubescent Girls Touch Themselves.”
The video is a chorus of young women (we do not know their ages) singing Divinyls’ ode to masturbation,” I Touch Myself.”
According to the Wayback Machine, Gunn embedded the video with a comment about how this video brought him to orgasm:
Huston Huddleston posted this video on my Facebook page with the note “I thought you’d appreciate this.” My response: “Appreciate it?!! I just came all over my own face!!”
The man who gave Gunn this video is apparently the same Huston Huddleston connected to the sci-fi circles Gunn is part of, and who was later convicted of possessing child pornography.
Gunn was not some dumb kid when he published this video, he was a 44-year-old man."
At what age do you think adults get to "stop growing"? It's exactly the same and you know it. It's just that Gunn was a Trump hater, and therefore anything he says is different than if it was said by a Trump supporter. It's disgusting the way these pedophiles, rapists, racists etc all seem to be fine with eachother as long as they're democrats. The double standard is blatantly obvious I don't know how they think we can't see it.
shareYou can't defend pedo behavior man, you just can't.
shareVirus I just want you to know that you’re an idiot.
shareI can't bring myself to care about Rosanne. I don't care if she was fired. Not because of her tweets. Mainly because here show sucked in the 90's and it probably would have sucked now. Trump supporters only liked her because she made fun of people in pussy hats. But shes always sucked and was about as funny as watching a dead puppy decompose.
sharehttps://uproxx.com/tv/roseanne-ratings-highest-rated-show/
shareWell just because a lot people watch it. Doesn't mean it don't suck.
shareall three are so different and yet represent the lowest of scum that the showbiz ever produced.
1. James "I have famously huge turds" Gunn is a creep who produced child rape comments and other depraved stuff.
2. Rosanne is a primitive racist and liar.
3. Trump is Trump, all of the above and also so much more than that.
It's as if he gates of hell have opened and vomited their most despicable, vile creature into the world. Only a fool takes sides in this fight.
^ This.
Hard to feel sympathy for any of the above, so I won't.
It's a wee bit fecked up that anyone is taking sides in this. One horrible thing doesn't make the other horrible thing any less horrible.
There are lessons to be learned here. Not just for celebs but for all of us plebs also. For it could happen to anyone who uses social media, you just never know who is going through your history, your boss, an ex or someone who just wants to see to it that you don't progress in life.
that's not completely true.
i wish neither of them had been fired, though i can understand why both decisions were made.
& as many have said, they are different in some critical ways.
gunn had already apologized for these jokes that were made years ago. &, while i agree they were tasteless & unfunny, they were clearly meant as transgressive jokes.
barr's tweet was current & not a joke. even if you accept her statement that she had no idea jarrett was black, it still was something abc/disney had to distance themselves from.
& barr seems like someone who is seriously unwell. i think she deserves sympathy, but i also think that employers need to distance themselves from someone who seems very capable of saying ugly, unbalanced things.
So James Gunn is a better employee because he knows how to hide his feelings better than Rossane? Wow, what a great family company this Disney Corporation pretends to be.
shareAt some point the hypocrisy bubble has to burst, right?
sharethe jokes were all made before he worked for disney i believe, no?
i think a company ought to be careful about firing someone for actions taken before they became an employee.
barr's tweet was made while she worked for disney.
and there's a distinction between making tasteless jokes about pedophilia & being a pedophile.
for a while dead baby jokes were a craze.
doesn't mean people pined to put babies in a blender.
gunn came out of troma films, where tastelessness & crudity were prized characteristics, not vices to be downplayed.
and, to repeat, there is a difference between making a joke about a crude matter - even if it's a bad joke, it's still clearly meant as a joke - and saying something that would seem to be pretty racist.
no one should be saying gunn is a pedophile. unless there's evidence for that, then that is a vicious slur.
it's all too easy to take barr's tweet at face value and see racist intent in it.
that's an important distinction, & i think that should be clear to all.
Except Disney knew about the tweets from years ago. They only acted on it once they resurfaced. A family company like Disney, knowingly employed a man that made really disgusting remarks years ago, and only decided to grow a conscience once they resurfaced. That's that company that needs to distance itself from Rosanne of all people?
shareRacism is worse than pedo jokes in their eyes, I guess.
shareIt wasn't even racism, it was just a racist joke. Is everyone that makes a racist joke now considered a racist? If so then does logic not carry that anyone that makes a pedo joke is now a pedophile? Typical liberal hypocrisy. They stand for free speech as long as it's THEIR brand of free speech. Racism and sexism has no place among them as long as it's THEIR brand of racism and sexism. It's disgusting.
shareThis isn't Roseanne's first rodeo with African-American women and racist tweets:
“Susan Rice is a man with big swinging ape balls,” Barr had tweeted in 2013 before later deleting the message. No amount of Ambien in the world can make you say what Roseanne tweeted. Roseanne never said it was a joke, just her political meanderings to the alleged politics of certain people.
"This isn't Roseanne's first rodeo with African-American women and racist tweets:"
So what?
"No amount of Ambien in the world can make you say what Roseanne tweeted. Roseanne never said it was a joke, just her political meanderings to the alleged politics of certain people. "
I'm not defending her ambien remark. I'm defending her joke. Which it was whether she said it was or not. No one in the world announces they are about to make a joke before they make one on twitter. What utter lunacy.
"One day some posters will understand False Equivalency but even then they won't stop trying to make their case to win an argument in a non-ironic way."
Where's the false equivalency?
Roseanne's joke was putting down an actual person, though.
Gunn just made some ridiculous and sick jokes about pedos.
Gunn did not make jokes about pedos, he joked about him raping kid and enjoying watching kids getting sexually assaulted. That's a difference and a different level of depravity.
Who is worse? I don't care, they must both burn.
The things Gunn said were far more perverse, vulgar, and depraved than what Rosanne said. It's not even a competition. And as was said, he wasn't making jokes about pedophiles, he was acting as the pedophile in his jokes.
shareThat's because communism is tyranny.
share"All these people defending and praising Gunn were the same ones that were stringing Rosanne up on a crucifix"
It's a CROSS, not a CRUCIFIX, dumbass. A crucifix is an image of Jesus on the cross, as distinct from a bare cross.
But, please, don't let you're stupidity prevent you from standing up to "liberal hypocrisy".
