least favorite character.

i don't like her.

reply

Yeah, me neither. If I were Walt I'd take advantage of their turmoil and get a divorce. He can keep his drug money secret and the child support would only be calculated based on his $46k teaching salary.

Who needs her bitching and prying and miserable attitude all the time. He gots cancer. Let him do what he wants. So what if he's got some secrets.

LOL, look at the dates of both posts. You were talking about 2 different shows!

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!

reply

LOL! That's funny.

She's unlikeable in pretty much anything she's in though. In Deadwood, especially in Breaking Bad, even in Seinfeld too.

Is it bad that I'm hoping her character gets killed off in Breaking Bad?

reply

No, it's not. Terrible Person. I mean the character she plays.

I hated her in Deadwood - ruined the show for me - so much that I've wanted to watch BB but just couldn't because she's in it.
I read an article - I think in EW - with suggestions for this year's Emmy noms & she was one, so I came to this site to see if she's that good in this show.
From the comments I've read looks like she's as awful as ever.

reply

Yes, she is indeed.

Unless she's trying to play detestable characters. If that's the case, she might be a good actress after all.

LOL!

I think Gunn's brilliant on Breaking Bad, but what hurts her IMO is that vibe she gives off. A very C U N T-ish vibe and it's probably because of that face and some of her mannerisms. It's just not a winsome package and when you factor in Skyler's personality to it, she becomes very unlikable. Even though I can't really blame Skyler for 80% of her actions on the show. Put yourself in her position, would you be acting any differently? She's annoying, yes, but not a bad person and has a legitimate reason to act the way she does. But there's something very unappealing about the way Gunn portrays the character and I don't think she can help it - because the show runners are on record saying Skyler wasn't meant to be disliked at all - yet she is. Gunn's probably just too much of a natural hard ass for the role, considering others find her unappealing in most of her other work too. The casting team should have gone with a softer actress. Someone who would still be playing the exact same character, yes, but she'd have the ability to project some genuine warmth. Skyler is the one being wronged on the show yet no one has any sympathy for her. That's an acting issue IMO. With a softer, more likable actress not only would we be able to root for Walt, yet still be able to empathize with his wife.

There's a way to play a detestable character that makes people unable to turn away. She makes me want to skip her scenes.

Look at Colonel Hans Landa from Inglourious Basterds...he plays one of the most despicable characters possible, yet my eyes are completely glued to him every scene.

In Deadwood, in Breaking Bad, in anything I've seen her in...I want to skip her scenes. There's a way to play unlikable characters to make them extremely engrossing to watch. Then there's a way to simply be unlikable at all times.
