I just can't stand her!
I'm aware that she is loved by millions, but for me I cringe when I see her. She has a $h!^eating grin that gets under my skin. Although I'm sure she is a nice person in real life I just can't stand her.

shareI'm with you.
The op-ed piece she wrote in NY Times solidified my dislike.
Plenty of actors portray unlikable characters. Usually, people can appreciate a great performance of an unlikable character. And...most people can separate the two.
Personally, I never understood why she got all those accolades for playing Skylar. I really felt plenty of actresses could play that role. I also think most actresses would've played Skyler as an unlikable character, but not to the degree of Gunn.
I didn't know much about her outside of the show...until that op-ed piece. After that, I understood why I disliked her character so much. Gunn really put a lot of herself in that role.
I disagree with almost every aspect of her opinion...and it really bothers me that she basically says, if you don't like my character in Breaking Bad, you're sexist.
So many people today think they know what everybody is thinking and what everybody's intentions are. It seems to get worse and worse every day. And so many elitists in Hollywood LOVE to tell the general public what they're thinking...even though most of them are so disconnected from the real world that they have no idea what anybody outside of their circle is thinking.
Gunn is no different. I'm watching the BB marathon now, and I dislike her even more the second time around--which...apparently means I'm sexist.
Unreal

OMG, I SO agree with everything you said. It's what drove me nuts during the whole election cycle and continuing. And Anna Gunn typically doesn't get it as well. She sees the character as a strong woman, but I see Skyler as the typical controlling "I am always right" wife; and, frankly, that's not borne out of strength, it's borne out of spite. I myself am not the archtypical wife and I am NOTHING like her. I HATE other women like her. I must be sexist as well. Being equal to a man does not mean being a strong-arm ball buster. We've had plenty of women like that BEFORE "women's lib".
Yeah there is something just annoying about her. Anyone remember the scene in Breaking Bad where she sort of sings Mr President. Cringe
shareDitto! And another DITTO! Yes, thank you ladies! You wrote exactly the words for what I've been mulling around in my head since virgin binge watching BB (such a late bloomer) - all of her on show drives me crazy, always has and obnoxiously
continues to do so, THEN then Happy Birthday song made me feel like yucky and like, really?, THEN her objectified portrayal image of the sexy "gee, I didn't know" bookkeeper, followed by the weird real life op ed piece bc it's MY lack of feminist fault I don't like Skyler? Nope sorry Anna, it's all you girl. And it's not the brilliant acting bringing forth the hateful conjecture of a character, it's all mushed up with other stuff, just making it unpleasant to watch I guess.
All well said. thank you.
