She carries a book to prevent boredom

Ha, ha...I have the same personal habit as the lovely Lauren Graham. We both like to carry books with us just in case we find ourselves stuck somewhere with dead time. When I go to a restaurant for a meal or plan to wait in line at the Post Office or at the bank, I carry a paperback or a hardback book. Like Lauren, I hate becoming bored and not being able to do anything about it. So a convenient light book on hand is perfect for filling in any down time you find oneself stuck in. Of course this only works if one likes reading books.

I am an avid reader and sometimes read for hours before bed or at various times and at times will carry a book with me, but for short waits, say 20 mins or less diving into a book keeps you from observing your surroundings or just mannerisms and what not. I agree that in uncomfortable surroundings or in surroundings that are visited regularly I would love to have a book I'm in to, otherwise, sometimes your missing life around you that can be interesting as well. This comes from someone who hates "reality TV" or that kind of garbage. Watching real life can be fascinating.....Sometimes..

agreed. i love watching people interact with one another and seeing the world work. i only carry a book with me if i know i'll be waiting a long time. i find it hard to read with a lot of movement around.

but girls who read books in supermarkets and whatnot are adorable.

"but girls who read books in supermarkets and whatnot are adorable."

I completely agree with this!

I do the same and her doing that shows again that she is a smart and down to earth person! (Was that the right term???)

After a few stints waiting for an audition or working background with all the waiting that's part of that gig, you learn a book is a good thing to have on hand.

I notice the people I do not enjoy as much on set are the one's who depend upon electronic devices to fill their spare time.

Perhaps this speaks well of Miss Graham...
