can anyone on God's green Earth explain to me his star status or appeal?

he's weird looking and never was a great actor but yet he's in so many mainstream, Hollywood big budgeted movies over and over again. what the hell happened to this world to make him a huge star? I mean, any generic actor could do what he has been doing in movies for so many years now. is he paying people off in Hollywood or something. his popularity and success is a complete and utter mystery and is so undeserved.

Another retarded thread by the biggest retard on the IMDb.

Is your username your real name? If so, I would change it if I were you. I wouldn't want people to know my real name if I made posts as stupid as your posts.

CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.

He IS a great actor.

He's a very likable person without having to be flashy or in your face with it. Professional, and engaging to watch, yet doesn't take himself too seriously. If one has seen 50/50 and doesn't think this guy is a great actor then you're a moron. His popularity likely stems from how nice and genuine he comes off as. He'll put 100% in time and again. George Clooney has been getting plum roles for years and that's a guy who has no versatility whatsoever.

He should already have nominations for at least 50/50 and Mysterious Skin.

I can't believe we're just gonna casually watch someone get murdered, what is this, Detroit?

you can say all you want about him but no matter how many movies I see him in I'm always left with the lasting impression that he's a smug, vain, pretty boy, mama's boy, playboy, pompous a#@hole in real life. oh, and by the way just because he gave a great performance in one movie doesn't qualify him as a great actor. great actors are actors who consistently give great performances. so, Ben Affleck is not a great actor even though he gave a great performance in changing lanes. and drew Barrymore is not a great actor just because she gave a great performance in Scream.

Wait, Gordon-Levitt's performances give you an impression of what he must be like as a person? You know he's acting, right? That's like me saying I have the impression Kevin Spacey is a complete prick because he comes across that way in a fair few roles 

I completely agree, which is why I count him as a great actor. I can only think of maybe one or two performances that were a bit of a miss for me (Havoc, for one).

I didn't say that. I said, no matter how many movies I see him in, I still left with the impression that he's a smug, vain, pretty boy, mama's boy, playboy, pompous a@#hole in real life. I meant, nothing he does onscreen can change what he is off screen. just like no matter how much I like Colin Farrel in a movie it won't ever change how I feel and think and know about him in real life.

You've met both Colin Farrell and Joseph Gordon-Levitt? I'm just asking, because as easy as it is to assume what someone is like, we could never actually know without meeting and knowing them.

Farrell has a reputation of being extremely good with his fans, and though he swears like a sailor in most interviews, he also comes across as thoughtful and introspective. JGL seems highly intelligent and well-spoken, and has built an entire company whose foundation consists of collaborating with fellow artists from round the world, and gives these individuals amazing opportunities to create.

Maybe they're both colossal *beep* I really wouldn't know.

yeah, exactly you know just as much about them as I do. and you're just as qualified to evaluate both of their characters as I do. I'm not the only one in the slightest bit who knows how bad of a guy that Colin Farrell is. my gosh, he's such an arrogant, the rules don't apply to me, womanizing as@hole.

reply

...er, I did, in fact, say that I have no clue what either of them is like in real life. Well spotted.
