Her Characters
Truthfully I've only ever seen Goodwin in Big Love and Once Upon a Time, but I feel that given the amount of screen time and effort she put forth into those roles I've seen a great deal of this actress in action. For the longest time something bothered me about both of these roles and the way she behaved in them. I thought for ages that the writers must script roles for her based on bi polar tendencies that she could be so bubbily happy one moment and bursting into tears the next. Then it really struck me. She has the ability to portray a child like innocence that most of us would consider long lost and glad of it. Her characters as flawed as they are, are soft hearted and filled with wonder and hope and a real zest for life that I have sometimes forgotten completely. Perhaps it was the jaded cynic in me that would often wonder why she can retain that child like quality while so many of us are scarred by life and forget our dreams of youth. At first I would watch her characters in these shows and feel sorry for them for a time, until it got to be such a burden to do so that I couldn't give another ounce of empathy. I would get angry at the decisions her characters would make because they were less than what I would have called well thought out and rather rash and impetuous. But therein lies Goodwin's strength and bravery. She comes of as human warts and all so to speak. Of course she is very attractive I'm not saying she isn't and I couldn't be happier about her marriage to Josh Dallas. As a fan I don't know him personally but I loved him on Once Upon a Time and hope for their lifelong happiness. I do feel a bit ashamed of my fellow humanity, especially on this board that so many would be so cheap and shallow as to take digs about her looks. As if those who posted such mean things were born so perfectly looking that they themselves can judge another. Shame on the people who post such trivial tripe. Just because this is the faceless internet doesn't mean that celebs aren't people as well with real feelings who sometimes read these boards and can be as hurt by words as anyone else. You can't know a person by the characters they portray, nor does interacting with them briefly (hey I met..) count as insider knowledge. Walk a few miles in those shoes before you judge. I think Goodwin's awesome, and her characters a great reminder of the compassion and feeling that all people should have for one another. Bravo Ginnifer.
