He has an interesting twang in his accent in this that's kind of similar to David Thewlis. Did Joe put on the same accent for his character or is he from the same area as Thewlis?

I saw him in This Is England and his performance really stood out - and I was shocked to hear the other day that my brother used to know him! :D (he was in the same year at school and also college) apparantly, he wasn't much into acting back then, but he did some 'Sunny Delight' adverts! xD
