The Perfect Dirk Gently
Nick Frost was born to play this part. Someone must get "The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul" made.

sharetotally agree!
shareYou're right!
shareI disagree, Mark Heap would be better, or Eddie Izzard.
shareI would just be excited if the Dirk gentley's ever got made into a movie... they were such great books.
shareI had never thought of it before, but I absolutely agree! Only, I hope that if they do ever make the Dirk Gently novels into movies, they don't butcher them like the yawnfest that was Hitchhiker's Guide...
shareI completely agree! Maybe Douglas Adams books don't translate well, or maybe we just have to find the person with the perfect vision. Unfortunately, Hollywood doesn't seem to care about vision as much as $$$$.
shareThat is the problem of course.
Douglas Adams was a terrific narrative writer, but not so much for "dialogue".
Most of his humor was never in the speeches his characters spoke, but rather in his ingenius way of describing the situations in which they found themselves.
This is, I think, why his books are not really suited for film.
Hell, radio is even better than film because, with that medium, a narrator is acceptable.
