Too young. He must've been struggling.

Are you a Power Rangers fan?

reply

Nah, I was too old for that. Athough I did watch the first series in a sort of ironic way. I know all about Tommy and the Green/White Ranger.

reply

I saw this show (the first few seasons at least) when I was a kid. It sucked, but it was entertaining.

reply

I enjoyed Rita and her minions.

Power Rangers such a cheesy show but it had its fans. Sad to see him go by suicide.

According to the article the cause of death is not yet officially known and it's a rumor that he died by suicide. I guess we'll see if that is actually the case. It certainly does seem strange that a 49-year-old in-shape dude would die by natural causes.

This really is quite shocking. I actually met him once and got his autograph. I certainly would not have thought at the time that I'd be reading about his death just a few years later.

Was he nice?

reply

It was a very brief encounter. It was an autograph signing with a huge line so I only got to exchange a few words with him.

Mostly I just remember telling him I thought the White Ranger vs Scorpion video was really cool--if you haven't seen that you should check it out--and I asked him if that was him in the suit when the White Ranger had his helmet on. He said it wasn't. That was not a surprise to me, because I thought the actor moved too well for a guy in his mid-40s and the style also just didn't look right for JDF.

EDIT: Here's that video if you want to see it.

This should be a series on YouTube.

reply

It was, sort of. Look up Super Power Beat Down and you'll find a whole series of videos that match up various fictional characters in epic fights.

If the quality of action in this video was actually what we saw in Power Rangers, the show would've been a lot cooler.

He was from my home town, he trained at this place called Red Dragon Karate in a strip mall down the street before joining Power Rangers. They sold weapons at the front counter like shurikens and nunchuks.

reply

You can tell that he was the best fighter on Power Rangers.

reply

Wow, that one took me a while to process. The guy was my favorite ranger on MMPR.
