i loved watching Sanford and Son as a kid and young adult.. still one of my fav sitcoms.. But why in the heck did he dodge the government on taxes.. Did he really think he would get away with that?? You gotta pay the government sooner or later.. I just saw a show about the condition of his estate, it was a real mess.. He died with all of his money and belongings gone and in debt to the IRS..

Sometimes the artist type are not the well planning type.
I'll share a story I heard on a radio program about him.
During the black panther/black power days of the 70's when this show aired, Mr.Foxx was under pressure by these activist groups for not having any black writers for his shows. So Mr. Foxx caved in and fired all his Jewish writers and hired a group of black ones. Come show time he took one look at the script, had a long face and a heavy sigh... before yelling "Givemme Back My Jews!" They were all rehired the next day.
