Why did they kill her off on Crossing Jordan?

According to a fan site

"- Her character on "Crossing Jordan" was killed off so she could star in the short-lived tv-series "Committed"."

I think she was pushed out because she was pretty and electric, making her overshadow Jordan. She had a glow about her that Jordan couldn't emulate.

One of the more obnoxious remarks on IMDB boards.

I read somewhere online a long time ago that it was only a temporary part in Crossing Jordan during the summer hiatus of The Bold and the Beautiful but it seems she never returned to that show, moving instead to Committed in the autumn.
