I wish she posted after the election results

Considering she voted for Hillary and that she is so supportive of women's and LGBT rights. I wish she posted about this.

Even if she left Trump out of it, still could have been a good time to call people together for healing and against hate. Much like the one post with the flower she did that time.

If she did more things like that she would be respected like Emma Watson is for women.

reply

She could have, but I am not surprised that she didn't. The Fannings are definitely not the "shoving politics down other people's throats"-types.

reply

To tell people to love each other right now is not shoving it down people's throats. Many Americans and her fans are hurting right now, even other countries' people have been seen crying in the street. It's up to celebrities as public figures to reiterate hope right now. Just a shame she isn't leveraging the influence and PR opportunity.

reply

I'm actually sick of celebrities talking about politics, so I'm glad that Dakota and Elle are the few celebrities that aren't talking about it.

reply

I normally don't talk about my political views. I've voted both democratic and republican in the past. It's usually not this cut and dry. But I guess it's different when you are American and didn't want a Brexit to happen to you. That's what happened to us so maybe you can now relate.

reply

I thought I was on ignore?...

Anyway, I voted leave in the EU referendum, so I'm quite happy with the result. If I was American, I would have voted Hillary. I'm annoyed she wasn't elected but it's annoying how it's all anyone can talk about. So I'm glad that Elle and Dakota aren't.

Sure it's annoying Hillary isn't president, but some celebrity saying a few words isn't going to make a difference. If anything, it feels forced. Also talking about politics, normally leads to arguments... That's probably a reason why Dakota and Elle have stayed clear from the topic.

reply

It's more than "annoying." We wouldn't be saying this if it was a Romney.

Trump is racist and sexist and how many people voted for him revealed how far America still has to go. There have been many hate attacks since the results and it's frightening for anyone who isn't a straight white male. That is why we continue to talk about it. We have regressed and many people are concerned.

This is not just politics right now. This is people's lives and safety and futures in America.

reply

I just don't believe there's any point in Dakota or Elle saying anything. What's done is done. A celebrity isn't going to help change that. Take a look at Lady Gaga for instance.

how many people voted for him revealed how far America still has to go.

I think you'll find that a lot of people who voted for Trump didn't do it because he's racist, but because he seem seems like the person that would stick to his word. As proven by the fact he's still planning to build a wall between the US and Mexico. Many politicians make promises which they can not keep. Which is a main reason why I think people started to dislike Hillary, especially after that whole email controversy. Then again, I'm only going by what I've been reading. I don't personally know anyone whose voted for Trump.

and it's frightening for anyone who isn't a straight white male.

Well from what I read, Trump claims he supports the LGBT community. I think it's immigrants who should be concerned right now.

This is not just politics right now.

It's always about Politics.

reply

It wouldn't change the election results but there is a message of hope right now.

Anyone who isn't a white male is negatively affected by this. There has been protests of over 40,000 people.

People are scared and hurt and sad. The people I know that voted for Trump are not educated and rednecks or they are rich white frat guy types. They may not be racist or sexist but they decided that was not a deal breaker for their President which tells me they don't value those things enough. That makes them just as bad.
