shareI completely agree. He is brilliant in Lucifer!
shareI agree as well.
shareI think the whole main cast in Lucifer is awesome.
BTW: Lucifer is getting a season 2 :D
Agreed. Whilst the cast is very good Tom Ellis carries the show - he's in nearly every scene and his character usually moves the plot. A lot of responsibility which he carries with ease.
I just hope the writers don't let him down and force him to act out the desperate sensationalism of what once was an excellent premise as other shows have slid into. I hope they reference the fabulous Neil Gaiman and do their research rather than doggedly follow a procedural cop drama with a weekly devil trick. Merlin got like that - who's Merlin going to save with magic this week? Grimm even brought a character back from the dead because she was in a relationship with the lead? Dreadful, unconvincing, boring plotline.
According to reports, Fox required the procedural, but the writers are too smart to let it be a hindrance and have turned it into an asset. It's really a procedural-light, since the stories don't follow through the way most procedurals do. It's not a law and order/CSI type show. The crime part of the show simply exists as a device to allow Lucifer to do his personal growth thing which is part of the farm more important serialized aspect of the show. The crime gives him a venue to explore his moral and existential dilemmas along with his fascination with the detective.

I agree, he's an excellent actor and this role is letting him really shine. The character is nothing like his other characters and Tom is almost unrecognizable as Lucifer.
