He was deliberately annoying on Star Trek!

But he could be hilarious when he was being deliberately annoying, like that episode where he turned human and was muttering about bad breath and making mariachi bands appear on the bridge.

I'm not really sure. You're supposed to not like him because he's the villain, but I'm finding him annoying and childlike.

HE ISN'T REALLY A VILLAIN...HE IS A COSMIC BABY...I WAS ALWAYS ANNOYED WITH HIS ANTICS...BUT THAT WAS THE POINT...DUDE NAILED THE ROLE.

I agree, and a cosmic baby is a perfect description of the character. It's been ages since I've watched TNG but weren't his antics the reason the other Q kicked him out for that one episode? Even his own people found him unbearably annoying.

I found him annoying in his original appearance, but in his later episodes I started liking him. (both the character and the actor)

I think that was the point of Q in relation to the bridge crew of the 1701-D, DS9, and VOY. To be as annoying as possible.
