sexy roles needed

I don't want to see her in all these matronly, maid/frumpy housewife type roles-- she should get to wear some evening gowns, swimsuits much more often in her movies.

Agreed, I didn't realize how young she was until she played Terrance Howards wife in thst thriller earlier in the year. Literal hair down was a welcomed improvement over preachy roles. I can never lust after her as she looks exactly like my Aunt.

Just saw her in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and she is looking hot in that movie. It is a supporting role but she is just so striking she captivates me in every scene she appears.

I agree. She is a marvelous actress and yet Hollywood has decided that if she doesn't look like Halle Berry, Kerry Washington or now the younger Lupita Nyongo with smaller features then she cannot be cast as a sexy love interest.

what Jordie?

Lol you really used Kerry Washington and Lupita as examples? Your post makes no sense. Viola Davis does not look that drastically different from them, so you sound nutty saying her features are inhibiting her. That's like if I said Meryl Streep can't play sexy roles because she's blonde.

Her character in her new TV show "how to get away with murder" seems like a sexy role.

"Not even Kerry Washington or Halle Berry [looks like me]. I'm talking about a black woman who looks like me — a dark-skinned black woman with the nose, the age, in every way like me," added the actress, best known for playing maid Aibileen Clark in the 2011 film The Help. "No one has taken my look in that way and put it on the screen. Shonda's been the first."

This is one of the greatest performances of Viola Davis, I love her in this film. The sense of realism in her face is the reason I love her.
