Part in The Departed

Thought his character should have played a bigger part in the film considering the ending when the shootings happen most people are saying who is this guy? he was only in a few small scenes throughout and then plays a significant part in the ending.

I completely agree, they made his role look so trivial until the very end. I just wanted to know if anyone knows if he appears anywhere on the 2 disc special edition dvd. I just bought the regular one. I didn't even know there was a special edition. Apparently there's a bunch of deleted scenes in that version. I just wanted to know if he's in any of the deleted scenes or in any of the extras, then I'll decide if I'll buy it.

I have the special edition DVD but haven't watched the deleted scenes yet. I don't think Badge/Barrigan is in any of the extras but will let you know if I spot him.

Thanks

hey Topaz, Badge appears briefly in two of the deleted scenes. In the first he looks very cute as he sits listening to the ballistics expert.

There's also an interesting doco describing where Scorsese grew up in NYC and the influence it, and other movies, has had on his films. However I do wish there was a full cast commentary on The Departed, like the one Scorsese and cast did for Goodfellas. Now that would be great.

Yeah it would be great. Now that you mentioned he appears briefly looking very cute, I'll probably get it. It's crazy spending 30 dollars just to see that one little part, but it's James. Thanks.

Does your local video rental store have the special edition? Perhaps you could just rent the bonus disc.

reply

Yeah I could just check out Blockbuster, they've got pretty much anything there.
