Marion on the Top 50 of most beloved French celebrities

Number 45. Good to see her among the most beloved French stars one more time!

Sophie Marceau scores higher? Why?

No idea. I know that Marion isn't beloved by everybody, maybe that's why she ranked lower than other French people. Still that's a great result, there are a lot of famous people in her country and she ranked 45/50, pretty decent I think.

If I've read correct, this is the list of most beloved French celebrities for French people? If so, it's not surprising Marion is so low in this rating. I guess, if they've asked British, American or some other country's people about their favorite French celebrities, Marion definetely would be on Top-5. Luckily or unluckily, Marion is more loved outside her own contry than inside.

Nolan, I love you forever!

I don't think she's that low considering the fact that many French people hate her. There are thousands of famous celebrities in her country and she still made the Top 50, that's decent I think. About outside France, I have no doubts she would rank higher, she's indeed more appreciated in other countries. It's a shame because she's the most well-succeeded French actress in history, her career is incredible as much as her achievements. And she's adorable, a great person, kind and charismatic.

For what it's worth, this survey is *beep*. I know because I was asked to answer it a few years ago. They give you 50 preselected names and you have to rate each of them, no possibility to add anyone or to remove the celebrities you dislike. Basically, she's ranked 45th out of these 50, not out of all French stars.

Why so low ? Well... this could be nonsense but here's my theory.
On this list I see mostly three types of well-liked celebrities :
- the funny ones
- teenage singers / young male athletes - mostly liked by young people I guess
- and the biggest category : people who did popular work 30 years ago and now keep a low profile.
Jean-Jacques Goldman, Jean Reno, Sophie Marceau... they're all in the top 10 and haven't done much recently. They're fondly remembered for things they did in the 80s/90s, and since we don't hear of them anymore we don't remember how awful some of their work actually is 

Marion doesn't belong to any of these. She's known for dramas, her personality is perceived as serious or even cold, and she's way too famous. She's almost always in the news, either for a movie or for something she said in an interview... if she disappeared from media for a few decades, I bet her popularity in France would rise.

Interesting info. Thanks! But if they preselected those 50 names they must have made a previous research and found out those names were the most popular somehow. Maybe they measure that by social networks mentions, articles, etc? I don't think they choose randomly 50 names.

"What is it with the French?" asks Max's half-sister in A GOOD YEAR. I have heard that the French do not like: artists who become internationally famous, move out of their class (the one they were born into), don't follow traditional (in some cases ancient) rituals of Frenchness, and so on. Could someone give us an over-view of the merit of these statements, and tell us why Marion is not beloved in her own country? To most people she's the very embodiment of the charming, slim, chic, sexy and mysterious French woman........and she's very patriotic and loyal to France, which many Americans don't follow themselves ("Make America Great Again"). Thanks for any enlightenment.

It's an other fake stuff said about French people.

Some hate her because you cannot be famous without being hate. It doensn't mean she's one of the most hated women in France, lot of people like her.

She's not like Anne Hathaway for Americans. Majority of people love her.
