Abbie... Please Don't Sell Out

Hmmm. Although I appreciate your viewpoint, I have to ask you, what kind of movies do you think would make Abbie "the next great actress of our generation" if not hollywood movies? Abbie is approaching her 30th year. Now is the time to get some major movies under her belt that also have a chance of being financial successes. That's a tall order.

She just turned 28 last month, so its still a bit before she's 30. And Hollywood is going to poison her talents. Because she won't go down the Meryl Streep route and do serious dramas like The Deer Hunter or Kramer vs. Kramer. She'll do Hollywood action movies like Pirates of the Caribbean 7 or Transformers 5 or whatever it is that's playing in theaters now. This girl has the talent to be the best of the best. She gave brilliant performances at age 24 in Candy and another oscar worthy performance at age 27 in Bright Star. She has such a bright future ahead of her, if she sticks to these kinds of movies. If she deviates and sells out, I would be incredibly pissed off. This woman has so much range and talent and beauty... She needs to work with Chris Nolan, Woody Allen, maybe another go around with Ridley Scott... talented directors that will help elevate her to the top of the business.

Tsk, tsk. You call yourself a fan and don't know that her birthday is in August? And two years (or less) is not a big time in film making when a film usually takes more than a year from filming to release, sometimes two. But be that as it may, the films being made when Streep was a rising star are very different than the audiences want to see now. Someone can sink the momentum on one's career because he/she makes cheap, shallow films designed to be big box office that transforms your name into a joke (I'm looking at you Transformers) or by making films that no one is interested in seeing because they are stale or out of date.

As a fan of Abbie I trust her to make wise decisions about her roles. I'm NOT excited about her working with Madonna, but let's see how it pans out. I am anxious to see Sucker Punch but that won't be out for a year.

You're right. I knew she was born on the 7th, but I got March 7th stuck in my head because thats when stanley kubrick died. Even better! 27!!! Her whole career is ahead of her!

Sucker Punch? Isn't that the new movie from the 300/watchmen guy? Yeah, should be a good one. cough sarcasm cough.

Abbie, please don't sell out. There's still a lot of great writers and directors out there dying to use your talents in their films.

Well, Emunah, you and I are two different kinds of fans. I stick by Abbie. She is a wonderfully nuanced actor with a sensuality that oozes from her very pores, infusing her characterizations. Yet she can tramp it down and become a down home Texas girl in Stop-Loss. She has never disappointed me even when the overall project did (A Good Year).

She lets it all rip in Sucker Punch and I expect that the image of her as martial artist/prostitute/mental patient will practically burn itself into the theatre screens. This new film she is making with Bradley Cooper, Dark Fields looks interesting also.

As for her future, talent will out.

She hasn't done nothing great great yet ,everyone sells out eventually .It might help out her career you never know.

I would consider her work in Bright Star, Somersault and Candy to be great. More than great, even.

And I don't think it's a case of selling out. Many actors have to do crappy films before their big breakthrough or even after. If you're making small films all the time, you're going to have to make some paycheck films. Bright Star should've been that breakthrough, but I think she was overshadowed by Carey Mulligan that year as the young ingenue.

It's an ordinary high school day. Except that it's not.

Also shock horror some very good actors and actresses I am almost certain like action films and no doubt think it would be fun to do one. But I guess that is simply impossible as clearly no one likes action films.
