HE IS NOT ASIAN.

Superman is also an alien. But he is 100% white. Why?

Goku and most manga/anime characters are drawn as white people. Only Tien looked remotely asian.

I think the major justifications for a white actor are resonable.

1st: Goku always was an Alien.
2nd: Dragonball Evolution is an adaptation of Dragonball. It's not a scene for scene recreation. And even if it was, Goku looks pretty white in the anime.

It's an american film, the only reason that they're not all americans is because the style of fighting is asian in origin and traditionally, in films, you have to have the white guy learning from the asian master (from Karate Kid to Forbidden Kingdom). THAT'S a cliche that would be hard to ditch, even though people all around the world now practice oriental martial arts.

In these racial debates, both sides usually have valid points but at the end of the day, it's an american remake of an anime. I think you have to expect the typical white middle class kid to be the stand in for what Goku was supposed to represent in the original.

Just my thoughts, I don't live in America or Asia, so what do I know?

Others have pretty much stated it. White is animated mostly in anime. That's why when I see a character that actually has Asian characteristics it just boggles my mind! Also like another said. Son Goku was pretty white in the animations. Even Bulma was characterized as white so to have an Asian girl play her role is a change (but I'm not complaining!). I wish Master Roshi sported the beard but yet again its already stated that its not a scene for scene creation. Think if it was? That movie would be longer than all three Lord of the Rings films put together!

Anyways just for laughs check out Goku's whiteness!
