Agree. Richard often gets overlooked, but as legendary as Karen's talents were, Richard was (is) a superb arranger. Those Carpenter's hits wouldn't have sounded the same with just Karen singing.
Oh yes ofc I didn't mean to take anything away from anyone I just had a huge crush on Karen. I find a woman with expertise on a musical instrument to be very attractive, combined with her crystal clear vocals I had zero chance to resist!
