What happened to this guy?

Last film I saw him in was The Holiday.

According to him he was blamed for the A Sound of Thunder failure. He also hates LA and only prefer to work in NYC where he lives.

he just did a series for epix. and i think a film for them before that. just a few odd projects here and there, but you raise a good point. his career didn't do what everyone expected.

for me he kinda like an icon for the golden age of 90s upstart boy directors, the rise of sundance and IFC (which both tanked years later, unforeseen by me; i thought they'd be there forever)


so i sortof look at burns' career with sanguine glasses. kinda sad to me, that that whole era is gone. an era of such promise, that kinda died on the vine. aside from a few good years from roughly 95 to 05 that whole vibe just evaporated.

i think it was 98 when i went to the theater and saw his movie no looking back (lauren holley, jon bon jovi) and at that moment it seems he (burns) was on top of the world and always would be. looking back, i think that was actually his high point.


eh, i am just sentimental for the way the movie biz USED to be. that's on me.

I think there is a limited need for characters with his amount of smugness.
