Anne Rice wants Matt Bomer for Louis

So she is developing a tv series based off of her vampire novels & wants Matt to play Louis! She said in an interview that Louis is a great beauty and after Brad Pitt only Matt can do justice to his beauty!

What do you guys think? Should Matt take on such a role? Personally the vampire concept has been cheapened for me due to Twilight, The vampire diaries & too many cheesy renditions off late. Having said that, Anne Rice's novels are respected vampire stories, so it may turn out to be real good.

Wonder if Matt will consider this role. He would definitely make one super hot vampire for sure!

She seems to really want him as Louis, but it's entirely up to Matt whether he would consider the proposal (if it is offered to him) or not. I feel like Matt wants to concentrate on doing his two projects for now... and it might not be possible to squeeze in time for a third project for the near future. I personally hope he could (and would) do it though! More TV show for him~

I think it might be a good role and a good project. He will be filming The last tycoon series which is a good project too, and probably Monty Clift too, but it would be good he accepted the Interview with the vampire project. At least it sounds like a better role than others he has accepted....

It is true nowadays the idea of the vampires has been very used and badly, now the vampires are far from being gothic, dark, intriguing..now it is like anyone can be a ridicolous and light vampire, but I like Ann Rice's vampires, I think they are more serious and adapted to real vampires.

Anyway,I dont trust very much Matt plays that role..Probably he doesnt want it or nobody offers him, despite Rice's wish.
When 50 shades of Grey everyone wanted him to play Christian Grey and nothing happened, altough being honest, that role was not the best...anyway, the same thing happened with Superman..He had the type for that, and he was replaced by Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill when to me, Matt has more the type of Chris Reeve..but oh well.

I wish that happens and Matt plays a role so interesting..It would be a pleasure.

Does she have a new book? Anne Rice had said previously that she wanted Matt for the role of Reuben in The Wolf Gift; in fact a man looking very much like Matt is illustrated on one of the covers. The Wolf Gift was okay IMO and I agree that Twilight cheapened vampire stories, but I'd still much rather see Matt as a sexy vamp than covered head to toe in hair.

More than any of that, I still maintain Matt is perfect for Matthew Clairmont in A Discovery of Witches and I would be ecstatic if he played that vampire, though I'm not nuts about the female protagonist in it.

Sorry... I just reread what you wrote. .. a TV series. I highly doubt Matt would do that.

It would be major hit and if he got a % of the gross, it would easily pay for raising his kids and socking money away. It would also cement him clearly in A list status.
But if he passes on it, no biggie. TLT, Monty, Anything, Walking Out will keep him busy.

Why do you think so Virgo? Do you think he's looking to do more of movies than tv series or is it because he has his hands full with one already? Just curious:)

With TLT and Monty on his plate, I don't think he wants to do another series unless it's HBO or similar caliber. I'm sure he'd be fine with fun stints here and there to keep exposure up and pay the bills, but I get the impression that he'd prefer time-consuming projects to be top quality or meaningful, either artistically or socially.

I'm not saying that Anne Rice's stuff can't be well done, but i doubt it's going to be the rich stuff we'll see in TLT or Anything or Walking Out or TNH. Even though I'd love to see him in the vamp trilogy I mentioned, or Anne Rice's series, I'd be surprised if he'd want to be tied down to something like that. If he does do it, I'll be more than happy to swoon. :)

I'm delighted to hear that Anne Rice got the green light to move ahead with her Vampire Chronicles. I'm hoping it gets picked up by one of the cable TV shows like Netflix, etc. If the show stays true to the mature nature of the characters and narrative, I think they might have a hard time with regular broadcast shows. That and I think she may have more creative leeway.

Her Interview with the Vampire was a favorite of mine and really laid the groundwork for the modern day revival of vampire interest. It's in no way related to the more juvenile Twilight genre.

Needless to say, I think Matt would be a fantastic Louis; the troubled, tortured vampire with a soul fits him like a glove.
