It's a pretty weird thing.
I like Jack Black. Not a very huge fan but I enjoy watching his movies.
But I find it really puzzling to hear people saying how annoying and clownish he is, and yet they go to his movies. My sister always lashes on him but I find her later watching.. and laughing.
Am I missing anything here? Or people just enjoy being critical?

Your sister and others can discern between his acting and his public persona. Personally I don't care for Jack Black outside of his acting roles. I've seen him on talk shows, a Rush documentary and two Kennedy Centre Honours and he's as annoying and maudlin as Bono.
