Had Less Respect In The 90's

I like Jack Black myself but I guess some do and some don't because of that eccentric style of humor he has .

He didn't become a star until in the 2000's. In the 90's,because of his odd type of humor they had him to play annoying characters in some of his movies. While he didn't act so weird in "Mars Attacks" he was still one of the first to get killed on there before all those other stars did.He was playing a young soldier.

He did play an annoying and offbeat guy on a movie called "The Jackal" that featured big stars such as Sidney Potier,Richard Gere and Bruce Willis.
Willis played a vicious killer who shot Jack Black's characters' arm off and blew him up by a car. This one surprised me when I saw it for the first time because I saw his treatment here as such a strong contrast to nowadays where he's a respected star.

Then he was on "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" where he played an annoying loud guy and was one of the victims of the violent serial killer in the movie where some people in the audience probably applauded because his character was so annoying.

It wasn't until the 2000's that they finally made him a star in his own movies and he carried it and got fans for his offbeat comical personality.

When you see that they cast him in the part he played in "King Kong" 2005- you see he's come a long way since that 90's image.

Thank you for the recap that no one asked for.

I was about to post soomething along the same lines, how long it took before his breakout comdey role, High Fidelity. I remember him from The Jackal and The Cable Guy, but he didn't do anything funny in those movies, nor did he get much of an opportunity to.
