In the Shannara series?

I've heard that he's playing Allanon in the series. For those of you who don't know, the Shannara books are in the Fantasy LOTR inspired genre. He's going to be essentially be playing the " Gandalf" in this show. However in the books Allanon is portrayed as a tall dark brooding figure wearing black. He's nothing like Gandalf in appearance and I think Manu fits the character well. Any of you guys know if this is confirmed or is it a rumor?

Just watched episode 1, he's brooding and mean, different but a pleasant surprise for Allanon.

I wanna see how far he can take it.

Way to go Manu.

He's not mean just stern.

Lolll

Come now MariJiwe.. That's no way to describe the Last Druid of Paranor and last of his line for close to a thousand.

But seriously, stern works!! Allanon in the books was that and more. He was moody, broody, scrawny, dark, reclusive etc. Manu's portrayal ticks all the boxes soundly. He brings more of his warrior lineage to the screen which is good, give him time to grow (and grow on you).

Akwabaa....

Manu Bennett's performance as Allanon gives me a new respect for his abilities. Allanon is as his name implies: like one having just emerged from an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, brooding and full of ancient and newly received wisdom. He provides a heavy foundation around which the rest of the young cast can shine.
