I found this a very exciting episode, as was episode 6. Does it come too late? Will people hang in there long enough to get hooked?

Again, Hector comes over as being the lead/most interesting actor, so why does RA get top billing? I've heard that even RA wanted to be Hector but kept them all waiting too long and lost out to Ifans before accepting Daniel. Are you glad he finished up as Daniel? I still think there's more to DM than meets the eye even though he acted a bit like a dummy this week as he stood by and watched Hector torture and kill people.

I suppose because Daniel is the hero of the story.

Personally I wish he had played Hector, because he is a more interesting character and there would have been more for RA to get his teeth into.

SPOILERS:

Here's an article about BS that feels the same way about BS as I do: it thinks that the show 'continues to improve' and that there was a lot of excitement and interest this week. But, at the same time, they don't feel invested enough in the characters to care what happens to them - not even Clare - and that this is rather a shame:

Some thoughts:

EVEN BIGGER SPOILERS

I'm sure that Daniel's cousin and nephew have been brought into things, first, to make him a more sympathetic character and, secondly, so that they can be held hostage. I don't know if Daniel will prove to be a straight hero, or if he is 'turned' by the end when we see him shot down or if he is part of a bigger twist, since an unexpected turn of events right at the end of a story is what the author is famous for.

Another question: who will come back in season 2? Hector is unhinged and apparently the mole so might get killed. Frost is incompetent and will doubtless get 'retired'. Kirsch is working for the Israelis and could be considered a traitor. We don't know whether Daniel dies or not or even what side he's on. Only Valerie seems like a possible returnee. Perhaps each new season will get an almost new cast.

Where did you hear that jaydall? I only read that in this Collider interview where he said they were looking at Hector at first but that he wasn't actually given a choice which character he would play.

I think you need to put a spoiler tag in your post, jaydall. Some haven't seen the episodes yet.

It says ep 7 right in the title along with discussion. If people are so stupid they can't figure there will be spoilers then they deserve to be spoiled.

Well, I've noted it anyway, broughps. It does no harm to say so and give the unwary a nudge. I'm usually very bad at pointing such things out to people. But, thank you, hounds, for reminding me and thank you, broughps, for underlining that it's in the title.

Since it has been renewed, could it end with some cliff-hanger? Thinking that, who is the mostly likely to return because of information now setting us up for this ending. Seems to me, Daniel is the most likely.

reply

Certainly, Daniel seems to be the 'hero' (although he might not remain that way) and RA is touted as the star, and so his return seems logical. But, I wonder if RA wanted an opt out clause in case he was offered something 'better'? They've made two endings and, although RA implied this was connected with whether or not the series would be renewed, perhaps there was another reason, although I don't know what.

RA did say just as it started, btw, that he accepted the part because BS was so 'current'. Perhaps he was thinking of the whistle-blower aspect, or perhaps he was thinking of the Syrian brides but something has just happened in Germany where life is imitating art:
