Everything I know about the UK.......

This interesting blog is headlined: Everything I know about the UK....I have learned from the BBC. I wonder how many other non-Brits would say that, LOL!

The blog is written by a mother and son team who make suggestions to each other about what each of them should watch. The first show discussed is Outcasts, starring Hermione Norris (Spooks) but, scroll down and you will find N&S. Interestingly, it was the son who suggested they watch this because he had liked RA as Thorin Oakenshield and wanted to see him in something else:

I read their North and South review before. I think the mother said that his son was not impressed with RA's Thorin but liked his portrayal of John Thornton. I'm sorry, I can't be friends with anyone who does not think highly of RA's Thorin Oakenshield, even if they love John Thornton. ☺

Hi Lucia. I think we posted at the same time.

Thanks for that jaydall. Actually though she says her son 'did not particularly appreciate' RA's performance as Thorin.

I'm surprised that, if he didn't like RA as Thorin, he wanted to see him in something else. I agree with Lucia that, if you don't love his Thorin, then I can't be friends with you, LOL!

Back to this blog's headline: I know of several people who have come to the UK in high expectation of finding blokes just like the heroes of the period dramas, all speaking with beautiful English accents. They've been very disappointed. They have also been disappointed to find that the UK isn't one giant film set. Yes, some areas are very beautiful but we have our rough, grotty areas just like any other country. Has anyone ever come here with high expectations and then been very disappointed?

I posted this on the N&S board as well Jaydall. I know it will only be there for a few more days but some of the regulars have read and enjoyed it. You should post it over at C19 on the N&S sub-board there. 

Yes, I keep meaning to post it on C19 but life has caught up with me. I've got a second family gathering two weekends in a row (at my house), two new grandchildren to help out with (born within days of each other to my twin daughters) and a sick husband. You're welcome to post it there if you have the time.

reply

I will. You are a busy lady. Sounds like you have your hands full. Sorry to hear your husband is ill

Thanks, laura.
