“ Lost Finale Guest Spot”

There has been much speculation in the media lately as to why I did not do the final episode of LOST. Some say I was too greedy, some say I was difficult, some say I was offered a hearty sum and wanted five times that amount.

Let me state unequivocally for the record that none of these statements are true. For the record, the entire sum of money that I received upon completion of my last four episodes on the show ($100k), I donated to a Hawaiian charity, the ” SGI,” for which I have a documented receipt. I believe that answers the claim that I am greedy.

Regarding the Finale guest spot, my Representatives were approached with an offer of half of what I had been earning on the show 3 years previous. That was the hearty sum of which they speak. We did not regard this as fair considering the impact I had had on the show, what I brought to the character and the fact that I had done GI Joe and responded by asking for double the amount I had earned on the show previously (not five times as is quoted in the media). This my reps can verify. The creators did not wish to do this deal and so I moved on, shooting FASTER (with The Rock), The Animation Feature : Pirates and Scientists and THE THING which I am currently shooting. You may read other things in the media but these are the facts.

I am really happy that you kept me in your hearts and continued to support the character. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Eko for you and will continue to create and invent stimulating characters. From Adebisi, Eko and Majestic to Heavy Duty and Jameson in my more recent projects.

Thank you for all your continued interest and support

Much Love,

AAA

It's good for him to state this to the public. Although if he was just going to be making a cameo, the expectations to even be paid as much as he had been previously (let alone twice as much or 5x's as much as some false reports have said he demanded), really doesn't fly too well. Were the other returning cameo guest actors being paid as much or twice as much as well, for what 1 or 2 scenes?

But it's still too bad he wasn't able to come back somehow.

"The only way I know how to deliver is to focus; some people can turn it on or off - I'd rather stay in character. There was no socializing. I would start two hours before I went to the set and I wouldn't say any other words other than the ones that I needed to say, that's just the way I work and I think that intensity comes across in my characters." -on his "method acting" style, which has sometimes allegedly caused resentment on sets

By the way...this was a condensed version of a much longer explanation that detailed the drama he had on set when his was parents were dying as well...it goes MUCH deeper than the money folks!

It is 'cause I SAID SO!!!

Interesting, though I'm not terribly impressed by the explanation. If money didn't mean anything to him, then he shouldn't have had any problem accepting the offer. Regardless, he says that he did not demand 5 times the amount of what he was offered, but then tries to coach his statement to suggest that he *only* asked for twice as much. Of course, if you do the math, he actually demanded 4 times what was offered, not 2. Let's use simple numbers, he was offered 1, he previously earned twice as much at 2, he asked for twice as much as he had earned previously, 4. 4 is obviously 4 times as much as he was offered, 1.

Oh well, I loved his character on the show, but considering how he left so early of his own decision, I can't really feel too badly for him that the producers didn't meet his fee for his likely cameo...

Why should he return for the Lost finale? Mr Eko had already made peace with his brother and his past, just as Michael had come to terms with his double homicide after his ghostly meeting with Hugo. Many passengers and "others" were not in the finale or play a role in the "flash sideways" construct.

Actually, most of them did return. He was the pretty much the only holdout.
