Heavy

I love many musical genres, but there are two that are at the very top of my list (though, ironically, my favorite musical artist, Eva Cassidy, worked in neither of them), and they both have Heavy in their genre name: Heavy Classical (Wagner, Mahler, Puccini, Beethoven) and Heavy Metal (Ted Nugent, LED Zeppelin, Leslie West, Blue Oyster Cult, AC/DC). How the HELL are there no AC/DC posts until now?

Favorite AC/DC album: Got Blood If You Want It, their live album. Did you know that live albums actually tend to be recorded better than studio albums? It has to do with live recordings being made with fewer microphones, but I’m not a recording engineer. It also has to do with live recordings feeding off the energy of the audience. Anyway, Got Blood If You Want It is Heavy Metal aural sex.

Favorite AC/DC song: It’s A Long Way To The Top, If You Wanna Rock N’ Roll. It’s an absolute anthem, not QUITE up there with The Who’s Won’t Get Fooled Again or Queen’s We Will Rock You, but it’s up there, with Angus slashing his axe like Jigsaw and the lyric chronicling the absolute determination, dedication and sacrifice to get where AC/DC got.
