Perhaps the changes you've noticed are a combination of aging and her drastic weight loss. Weight loss can cause facial changes especially once one becomes medically under weight. Also ages your skin and causes it to have less elasticity. It really does make a person look horrible when they're drastically under weight. You can even tell her wardrobe on the show tries to hide her arms in many scenes because instead of being the typical actress/model thin and insyead looks frail.
However I disagree that Portia is unrecognizable. She's still a beautiful woman.
"Aghast." Well put. I just got into AD and watched each season back-to-back. I've just begun S4 and dear lord I had no idea that was her. In some shots she looks exactly like Calista Flockhart used to look: a big forehead and saucer lips barely held up by a bag of bones. She looks like she's been botoxed to within an inch of her life (she speaks much more slowly and far less clearly, as if she's having a hard time controlling her mouth) and her eyebrows look painted on.
Why do these actresses do this to themselves?! Yeah, I know you didn't want it to look like so many years had passed, but they did, and you should've let yourself age gracefully, not chemically and surgically. She looks a crying shame, and it makes me so sad. Come back, Portia (if you can.)

I had to come here to check and make sure it was the same person. I was 100% convinced it wasn't until I came here. WTF?! She looks like an entirely different person. What happened to her face? It changed so dramatically. Did she have facial reconstruction surgery? Was she in a car accident and her face was injured severely? What happened?
shareI completely agree. I was just watching seasons 1-3 of AD to get ready for the new seasons. I didn't even recognize her when season 4 started. Her forehead looked bigger, her eyes were more round, and something else was off. The only thing that helped me recognize her was her voice.

She was hot, now she looks like a mess, so sad.
She hasn't had any work done, just look at the latest photos of her from the AD S4 red carpet (post filming); she looks just as good as ever, if not slightly aged.
Then compare that with how she looks during AD S4; they've clearly added makeup and and a fake nose to her character, she also had to wear a wig until they wrote in her shorter hair. As we know Lindsey had a previous history with plastic surgery, it wouldn't be too unbelievable to think that the shallow, selfish Lindsay Bluth would have had more done within the 5 years between the events of seasons 3 and 4...
It's sad that people think that this is something she has done to herself IRL because they only know her from what they've seen in AD S4
