Now hear this....

This youtube clip(s) is old news. Lily Tomlin and David O. Russell have made up. For all of you who are lashing out your hatred for Tomlin.....GET OVER IT AND GET A LIFE. Lily has recently commented that she loves David. She acknowledges that there was tension and that she's not perfect but that she is human. BRAVO! Another reason for me to respect Lily as I always have.

If anyone knows anything about Lily and her career at all then you would know that she has never been afraid of confrontation, taking chances and standing up to people when there is a need, this includes actors and directors. She is an Emmy, Tony and Grammy winning performer who also has been nominated for an Oscar. She has done TV,movies, recordings, animation and of course the stage. She is a brilliant, talented comedienne/actress/writer. I think the public tends to forget that Lily has her roots in stand up/live performance and that kind of training makes you not afraid of just being yourself and not worrying what others think. That's part of creating sometimes. For those saying Lily is a diva, again.....GET OVER IT. There are so many divas in show business you couldn't count them all. Overall, Lily is a very nice person. I've met her more than once and have read ALOT about her. She is kind, generous, thoughtful, well read and spoken and very down to earth. She is also in touch with herself and the human feelings that we ALL have, therefore, again, not afraid to express herself at times. She is not the only actor in hollywood to ever swear and get angry on a movie set. This happens. GET OVER IT (how many times do I have to say it? lol) I personally will take someone who admits they're not perfect and is in touch with themselves and others over someone who is fake "nice" ANYDAY.

For the record, Lily Tomlin is a living legend and I'm sure not going to be that affected by all of the adolescent rants that is being posted.

IMHO she is worth every bit of "diva" behavior she may have ever exhibited during her career which I'm sure is a lot less than has been displayed by the likes of Britney and all of younger hollywood.

Peace to all.

Doesn't excuse her gross, unprofesional behavior on that set where she acted like a total diva, cussed out her co-stars, and raged like a madwoman. Russell might have been more psychotic, but that doesn't give her a free pass on her embarrassing behavior, or negate or excuse it. So what that she's a veteran? That should actually be more reason why she should have kept her cool, and not acted like the old diva she is. Dustin Hoffman is a bigger star than she is, and he kept his cool. What a way to display yourself to the younger generations of actors, especially by telling one to f uck herself. And what an embarrassment in an otherwise sterling career. I am sure this will blow over soon enough and be forgotten about, but there will be people like myself who will think less of her for it.

Her "love" of Russell is a statement made in the interests of the business, of the movie at the time doing well. I am sure she still thinks he's the f ucker she called him at the time. Please.

Ugly behavior like she displayed does not come from "creativity" or "brillance" or "humanity" or whatever other bullcrap excuse you'll give it. We ALL act like it sometimes, but not at our jobs, behaving like spoiled children and out-of-control "professionals". This is how she acted, and she should be doubly embarrassed that the world has been able to see it. I'm embarrassed for her. But, she brought it on herself, even if that pig director was giving her a hard time. It's called professionalism. Might want to look it up, and next time you see Lily, give her the definition as well.

You're entitled to your opinion.

Whatever.

What an intelligent rebuttal.

Some people in their careers have earned the right to be divas (not that I think she was being one-at all). Tomlin had already made one film with Russell and they both knew how the other liked to work. She was trying to get him to be a director and tell her what he wanted. Dustin Hoffman came to her defense while sitting next to her. He told the director that he was being "nutty" and was changing the tone of the scene everytime they filmed it. Tomlin apparantly had reached her breaking point and was having no more of it.

I`ve seen people "lose it" in all aspects of life (including their jobs). Everyone has a breaking point and to sit in a car for hours filming the same scene over and over with a director who doesn`t know what he wants would push anyone to the limit. Tomlin and the director have put it behind them and it`s not their fault some jackass leaked it onto the web.

After her blowup she quickly recovered and told him what the problem was and it was over. Probably why she has lived and worked for so long. Get it out and get over it and move on.

Exactly mit800. I'd rather work with someone who can be honest and real and have it out and then move on than someone who acts all "proper" or "dignified" like their above somebody else. I've already posted, but it bears repeating: this is OLD NEWS. Lily and David are over it and have moved on. Too bad the public has to make such a stink about something that happened 4 years ago LOL.

No one earns "the right" to be a totally out of control "professional", whether it's Lily Tomlin, David O. Russell, or whomever. The fact that she is esteemed (or was) is no excuse for such tempermental, outrageous behavior. And as an almost 70 year-old woman, in the biz for like 40 years, she should know better. She made Hoffman and the other actors, and crew members, uncomfortable, especially in the car shoot. Russell certainly did too, but this is about Tomlin here, and HER appalling behavior. Tomlin told Hoffman to f uck himself when he was trying to calm her down. Yes, how gracious and professional of her. She reached her breaking point all right. And it was a disgusting display of prima donna, diva behavior. Hoffman never lost his cool like that, nor the younger actors like Wahlberg and Watts, who were also in that car for hours on end.

I don't care how "gruelling" it was in that car. These people get paid disgusting amounts of money to "suffer". What about the manual laborer who lashes out like that. He would be fired on the spot for such a lengthy abusive tirade. Give me a break.

Her blowup went on for minutes, particularly when she was in the car cursing like a sailor. Oh, yeah, she was "calm" all right. You are almost as bad as she is for defending such gross, crude, outrageous behavior.

That my "friend" is why it is called show business. It's not always like the real world, so there can be more allowment for "diva-like" behavior. It's unfortunate that you and others get so jealous of this but that's the way it is. BTW no matter what the profession, no one should suffer at their work.

Coming from your viewpoint I think I'll take that as a compliment. ( see how I don't reply as you wish? )
