Getting better and better on Dexter.
This is one of her better roles I'd have to say. Quite complex, and she's pulling it of. It'll be sad to see her go.

I agree! I love her character and i would love her to stay in for next season! Lumen is the only person to really see Dexter for what he is AND accept him! Julia is a great actress! Keep her in :-)
shareI think she's great on Dexter - I hope she sticks around!
shareI've really liked her on Dexter as well. I was a tad concerned when I first saw she was the central guest-character this season. After the likes of John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits it seemed to be really pushing her range to do a show this morally ambiguous and psychologically complex, but she's been terrific.
shareAgreeing with Andrew. She has gone through an amazing arc in seven episodes and I absolutely want her to survive her tenth and stay on.
From the frankly ugly Lumen in looks and demeanor (good on Julia for letting that hang out, not all actors would) ih her first four to the frankly beautiful Lumen in episode 5-9 when she uncovers why Astor and her friend were really there and helped Astor's friend and by the end of the episode Astor too in a serious way.
The scenes of Lumen and Dexter interacting in the kitchen were like they had been together in a happy marriage and the welfare of all of the kids was what they put first.
Damn that I just missed her on the stage in Brooklyn. That was such a short run.
She is so awesome on Dexter, I love her portrayal of Lumen! I have a feeling she won't be back next season, but here's hoping!!
shareShe really has built her performance!
The sheer physicality of her first big episode to the indescribable depth of her confessing to Dexter her awareness and gratitude of the things he's risked and the help he's provided. Phenomenal.
& when she embraced him in an act of love in the most recent episode... DAMN.
Brava Julia! Keep it coming. I can't wait to see what she'll do next.
It's quite obvious watching her on screen that she has had to really challenge herself to fill this role, and if any actress was looking for a serious, challenging role in an amazing environment this was the best option. So I credit the writers as equally as I do her because they were able to come up with a dramatically serious role for a female, and she does a great job with it. Like some have said, it isn't flattering to her at all for the first half of the season and I think she dug into it admirably while also showing a great character arc from start to finish. Probably most of the hate directed at Julia has more to do with an f'd up serial killer not being the focus of season. Lithgow was brilliant in a way audiences were open to because the f'd up serial killer has been seen before, but rarely explored as much as Arthur Mitchell was. So he expanded brilliantly on something audiences already wanted to see. But Lumen is a completely original element that the show has not seen before, and I welcome the change and so do most people who silently love this show unlike the whiny vocal minority. The therapeutic angle to deal with the end of Season 4 is important and Lumen is the critical piece, and even her name is indicative of her role - she's the beacon to guide Dexter away from his grief. Frankly, the writers did a wonderfully thorough job cleaning up the bombshell they dropped.
I can't wait for the end!!! And at the same time I wish there were ten more episodes. But such is the problem with an amazing series like Dexter.
funny, I was actually coming to this board to say the complete opposite. I feel that she's horrible, and I don't find her believeable in her acting. She seems phony and far from geniune. But I guess that's only me.
