Not mentally ill enough for a conservatorship
Medicated bipolar disorder is not enough to be in a 13 year conservatorship. This is ridiculous.

shareNo one really knows. It is possible that she has made statements about self harm, if so then that is probably what has caused the conservatorship to be continued. Under California law there are only a five mental illnesses that would qualify for the conservatorship, but bipolar is one of them, the law doesn't define how bad off you are only that you are unable to make decisions for your own well being which means if she simply doesn't take her meds when she is supposed to that could be a trigger.
Of course the reality is no one would give two shits about her if she wasn't worth millions. If she really wanted to end the conservatorship the thing she should do is retire from performing because as soon as the money dries up the leaches will go away. And the way conservatorships in California work dear old dad has to account for every penny she earns and is spent every year... but that isn't where he gets his money most likely he is acting as an agent or manager for her and getting a piece of the pie before it even hits her bank accounts, but once she retires that money train would end.
The judge disagrees.
shareAnyone who is truly a fan of hers should be thankful that her father had conservatorship over her all these years. If not for that, she would not even have the little relevance she still has in entertainment. She definitely would have pissed away all her money on really dumb stuff, and might not even still be alive.
Whether she has bipolar disorder or not is the least of her mental problems. Her biggest problem is that she's an idiot. She has the intelligence and maturity of a 13 year old, which is probably why she connected with that demo for so long. Watch any interview or situation where she isn't reciting some scripted answer, and actually has to think. Even when the interviewer wasn't being that hard on her, she would just go blank. Whenever she was left alone, who knows what disaster may come, i.e. Jason Alexander. Her family just looked at her and realized that if she was going have any future, then someone else needed to control every aspect of her life, just like with a child.
It seems crazy to me that her parents control her life, but perhaps she would be broke or deceased if left to her own devices.
Fame has a way of destroying people.
Michael Jackson in his early 20s said he never would end up like Elvis, a druggie, but sadly the stresses of fame made him an alcoholic and drug addict.
Her parents have the judged strapped to the teeth.
