Seems to me that you can't differenciate an actor from a character (Stifler). He is really good at making a Stifler beliveable, though, but is totally the opposite (on most points).

Many people who met him, either when he was unknown as well as after, took the time to post, here, who nice they found him to be. Given that people generally post here about what they don't like, that is a kind of exploit, in itself.

From experience on set he's cool as long as he isn't drinking. He's no Leiv Schreiber, that guy's a legend on set.

He got in rehab, by himself, for undisclosed reason. That does not occur for people who don't care about others, whatever the reason is. I also think that he was left with remorses after his father death. Again, that happens only on people who have empathy. That would not occur on a Stifler, well, I guess.
