Agreed. My favorite character from the franchise. I can't believe they brought Ellen Paige's character back and not her (they're probably completely basing this on star power since Rebecca Romijin's Mystique was a far more interesting character).

Does anyone know why?

Ellen Page is usually the best thing in any movie she appears in.

Anyway, apparently Rebecca Romijn was approached about being in the movie but she's comfortable at a walking around weight of 160 pounds these days so becoming screen ready for the body paint was going to be too much work. They could have shot around it, I guess, but the movie wasn't really a comedy.

So do you mean she was not cast as Mystique because of her weight growth? Probably it was due to the fact that She had given birth to two twins If they had waited, she'd have lost that weight :( If her size is the reason for not being I find it so unjust She's a much better Mystique than JLaw. Perhaps she could fill the shoes of Mystique in the so called spin-off concerning her at least

They would never wait for an actress who is only making a cameo appearance. I also prefer her Mystique too.

She has apparently come out now and said she would be interested in playing the role again. :)
