Here, here, I feel the same way. “KRP” may have faded into obscurity as the show may not be shown any longer, even in syndication but that’s not the point, what was the man known for & like you said he’s still “remembered” for that role, more than anything else, whether the show is currently airing or not. Not that I don’t respect everyone’s take on it, I do. But that’s the ticket, how is he truly remembered & for what.
“Sister, sister” may still be on, “WKRP/Simon & Simon” not but that’s not the how memory works. One can recall someone for what they did, even something you may not have watched or isn’t available more strongly than anything else, it’s how the memory & reputation works. At least I think so. In short, someone can be better associated for what you don’t see….but know, more than that, that you do.
Like I was just writing many of the tv websites I go to rank him higher for “Simon & Simon” & I loved that show when it was on & he believe it or not did as many episodes for that as he did for “WKRP”. It’s all up to debate.
