Bethyl and Caryl.
Can anyone explain to me what the big fuss is about? As I understand it some fans would like Daryl and Carol to wind up together while others would like Daryl and Beth to be a couple.
There seems to be some type of online feud, especially after the SDCC. From what I was able to gather online (I stink at searching) both sides call themselves shippers and each believe the other is rude. I read comments from both sides that were very ugly, many insulted the actual TWD actors and writers.
Norman was called a pedo. Each side claims to state the relationship they want is "canon or alomst canon." I had to look up the term canon:
Canon (in the context of fandom) is a source, or sources, considered authoritative by the fannish community. In other words, canon is what fans agree "actually" happened in a film, television show, novel, comic book, or concert tour. The term derives from the theological concept of canon, the foundational texts of a religion.
Specific sources considered canon may vary even within a specific fandom.
How could anything be considered canon if it didn't happen yet?
I am a huge fan of TWD and in my mind Daryl is more is a brother to both Carol and Beth. If they do write in a relationship I wouldn't care as long as they do it well, I do think the Glenn and Maggie relationship changed Glenn for the worse but I still love him. Carol is not too old for Daryl, they are the same age and she's pretty. Beth is too young for Daryl in MY opinion but she is not a child and she is of legal age. Also, the ZA tends to age a person beyond their physical years, and it's not like there is an abundance of soul mates for either of them to find.
To me Daryl & Carol have braved so many storms together and he admires her for being the type of mother he never had, they are like brother and sister and very close. I think he sees Beth as a younger sister and wants to keep her protected. I thought he had more in common with Michonne, but I also see sparks between her and Rick. It could go any way but it's not important to me in terms of the series.
Why do people get their knickers in a twist over TV characters? It's not real and the actors kissing or hugging at SDCC do not mean they are going to be together in the series. Even the Season 5 preview didn't reveal anything regarding the Daryl character having a releationship. It's just so odd that people are at each other's throats over a TV show, it's not real. Norman is not dating Emily Kinney or Melissa McBride in real life, not that it should matter anyway.
Why does it seem like people are losing their minds? It's one thing to hope characters will hook up but when you begin insulting the actore and writers it's another. It's not real people. And from what I read it's hate and nasty words coming from both sides.
