I'm confused about her son's name?

How many guys here, if they had a choice, would choose their mother's last name over their father's? Especially if he was a 3 time winning Superbowl quarterback. Is somebody vindictive and their son is paying for it.

1. You're assuming the child will care about his father's profession. The man who ends up helping raise that child will be the one he cares about, not some hyped up athlete no one will care about in ten years.
2. She is probably doing him a favor. He won't be immediately known as Tom Brady's bastard son, and he won't have to live up to any silly expectations (if any-no one will care or remember Tom Brady in ten years).
3. They were not married. She had the baby on her own. She carried him for 9 months. She had to take care of herself for 9 months. She couldn't have a drink for 9 months (just in case she drinks). Her body went through stress and changes. http://www.womenshealth.gov/pregnancy/you-are-pregnant/body-changes-discomforts.cfm
I doubt you're tough enough to put your body through that type of hell.
She has every right to name that baby whatever she wants.
4. Your male ego and your misogyny is showing. If you believe in the antiquated practice of giving every child the man's last name, then you should also believe that every man should do right by the woman he impregnates, and do right by every child he helps create.
I'm not saying Tom Brady is not doing right by his child, or that he did anything wrong toward Bridget Moynahan, but there a plenty of men out there who don't care to be accountable for their actions. She seems to be holding herself accountable for getting knocked up, she is taking full responsibility by giving him her last name.
5. Not all women are vindictive, and if that's all you encounter...well, you probably bring it on yourself. You're only as good as the people you date/get involved with.

1) Actually I'm assuming he would want to care for and be known by his son as much as he is legally entitled to do.
2)Now who's assuming?
3)And this is something Tom Brady would not be willing to do for his son?
4)I do believe every man should take responsibility for the children they help create and do their best to live as good role model for them even if they are not with their mother.
5)The "is" means its a question. Like this... Are you some kind of misandrist?

I agree, West Hudson. Tom is taking care of this child and he should have his last name. He should have the same last name as his siblings. I think Bridget just did that to get back at him.

Why should a child have a father's last name if he is just doing what he should be doing in the first place? If she is his primary caregiver, then his name should be the same as his mother.

I agree - doesn't matter.

The kid will know growing up that he's Brady's kid, and will either embrace it, and maybe change his name, or he'll resent it, and be happy he's got a different name.

Besides, he's a celebrity's kid - he's never going to live like you and me.

Wow, you know NOTHING about football. "No one will remember/care about Tom Brady in 10 years"? What planet are you actually living on? Please join the rest of us on planet Earth. You don't have to be a Pats fan to understand that Brady is one of the three elite QBs in the league. Has been for 10+ years. Get over it. He will be remembered long after he's retired and joined the HOF.

I wasn't married, but in an LTR when I had my child and my son has his father's name. I cant' tell you how many people said "don't put him on the birth certificate". Why would I not do that? So later on I'd have to get a paternity test to show my son really is his father's son? SMH

I never understood why women use THEIR last name instead of their father's. Sure it's confusing as heck, especially when it comes to school, they all call me "Mrs my-son's-last-name". I used to correct it, but it got tiresome so I just go with it now.

Personally it messes up family history. How can you follow a family line back? 200 years from now when descendants of "Tom Brady Jr" does a family tree they're going to get stuck at Bridget.

Oh well, doesn't matter to me. I'm not related LOL.
