I think it's kind of a good thing though. he has been in some noteworthy film. gets consistent work but he's not all Al-list like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. I kinda feel like he has been under the radar most of his career but he has managed to make that work in his favor. kudos to him

James still needs captions to identify his photographs and IMDb page, but once he's identified, look out! There's no stopping his popularity on his message boards even if that one fangurl is bringing on most of it, right?
Also a good thing that nobody on the street knows what you are talking about when James Marsden's name comes up, but that's okay, because who's out there on the street listening to anybody anyway?

Don't think it's done by choice. Kind of reminds me, how Matt Damon once was; known but not cared for.
But i think Marsden is due for another step up the ladder. He could lead a film potentially.
