How come she doesn't have a Russian accent?

Mila was said to have moved from Ukraine to the United States when she was 7 years old. She didn't know or speak English what so ever at the time.

I heard that if you begin to learn English after the age of 12, the chances are higher that you'll retain your native country's accent.

So 7 years old in the greater shape of things, probably isn't "too late" to learn how to speak English and not do it with a strong accent.

She actually DOES have that ex-soviet accent. Its not as in-your-face visible. But she does not sound like a true American either. You can clearly hear it when she talks. She speaks like a foreigner that came to USA.

Rofl. No she doesn't. She has a regular American accent because she came to the US when she was only 7 years old.

I hear nothing other than an American accent there, which makes sense since she's been in the U.S. since age 7.

reply

I can't hear it.

They wouldn't recruit somebody with a thick accent to be on hit TV shows while they are spying for Russia.
