I remember reading somewhere that he was originally cast as Rick in the Walking Dead, which wouldn't be surprising since there are several other cast members from The Mist that ended up starring in it. I wonder, how would the show be different if he hadn't dropped out? Would he be a better Rick than Andrew Lincoln has been?

I actually just read about this today. Tom Jane would have been PERFECT for the role. And I'm not saying Andrew Lincoln is bad. I think quite the opposite actually; Lincoln is brilliant, makes the show watchable, and has wonderful screen presence while bringing a sense of class to a show about zombies.
That being said, I still think Tom Jane would have been a superb Rick Grimes as well. The show would have a totally different feel though. Undeniably. I'm sure it would have been great nonetheless.
It's funny how with most iconic roles, people say "I couldn't see anyone else play this character". But I totally can now. Anyway, nice chat.
Glad he wasn't cast. Andrew Lincoln is perfect as Rick Grimes. People would see only The Punisher playing Grimes had they cast Jane.
